Glazing and glaze firing service can be booked optionally with extra costs of 25€/kg (or self-glazing for drop-in prices). Guest-Artist: Minsuh Kang Language: English Duration: 2 days each 3hrs (6hrs total) Dates: 21 & 22 April 2026, 2-5pm HANDFUL is excited to have Minsuh Kang offer a special workshop this spring. Minsuh is an artist and writer from South Korea. She studied Fine Art and History of Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, UK and was the assistant of large scale sculpture artist Jonathan Baldock. About the workshop: This two day course covers the basics you need to build abstract ceramic sculptures. We will focus on vessel free forms, building something abstract rather than functional. The class will explore experimental and accessible approaches to working with clay. Blending technical skill with material experimentation, the course offers a space to build confidence in ceramic processes while developing your own ideas and direction. Day 1: We will start with an introduction to contemporary ceramic sculpture, and various slab building techniques. Minsuh will introduce you to different international ceramic artists working in the field of contemporary sculpture. Guided and inspired by Minsuh you get a chance to try, experiment and explore different variations with clay. Day 2: The second day offers a chance for you to go deeper, exploring selected forms more thoroughly. You will be guided to build your sculptural interpretation based on the learnings from day 1. This course is suitable for complete beginners as well as students who have already attended courses previously and wish to continue learning and developing their artistic skills with clay. Spaces are limited to assure an inspiring and enabling group energy. Please note, that this class will only take place with a minimum of 4 participants.
